| The Diary of a
Nobody A hugely entertaining chronicle of English life and trivia in its Victorian heyday, The Diary of a Nobody centres around the character of Mr Charles Pooter, an assistant in a mercantile business, who recounts with an amusing simplicity his domestic, social and business troubles and their satisfactory issue.
From respectable suburbia to the City office, he tells of his constant war against insolent tradesmen, impudent junior clerks, and his irrepressible son Lupin. The ruffled complacency of this Victorian Malvolio incites him to set down these untoward incidents in a prim old-fashioned style which heightens their absurdity and makes him more than ever a figure of fun to those who, unlike himself, see the joke. Adapted
by Anthony Peters from the original novel by George and
Weedon Grossmith |
"I found myself enthralled by the sheer magnitude of this solo performance
- I thoroughly enjoyed the show " "Canham used the bare
minimum of props - a new hat and a new voice from his marvelously
flexible range - to create a new character from Pooter's world.
All made fascinating and hilarious watching" To download a photo for printing, click on the link pooter300.jpg or lupin300.jpg When the image has downloaded, click on File and select Save As. Windows users can also right-click inside the image.
