| Macbeth This adaptation of Macbeth is a fast-moving thriller with a contemporary military setting, which brings to life Shakespeare's darkest tale for young audiences. The action takes place in Birnam Wood where army intelligence leads an investigation into the deteriorating situation inside Castle Dunsinane. Captain Williams, played by Neil Canham, is the officer in charge of the investigation. His role is to gather intelligence reports and keep the nation and troops (audience) informed of any developments. The setting is a temporary army communication centre in Birnam Wood, which is equipped with radio, TV and satellite communications. Adapted by Anthony
Peters "An excellent production - superbly and
convincingly performed; challenging content made accessible; varied
means of delivery and entirely suited to its audience. They were
attentive and completely absorbed. The teachers loved it too. This was
the best production of a Shakespeare play adapted for children that I
have seen. It was impossible not to be swept along by the events of the
play and to feel as if present during momentous events. It was such a
good experience to see a primary school's production which regarded its
audience as intelligent, responsive and able to engage with
sophisticated content. I would like every young people's theatre
practitioner to see this show" |
