| The Tempest
Betrayed and cast adrift by his enemies in a rotting boat, the Duke of Milan and his daughter come ashore an uncanny island where they live for twelve years with only each other for human company. With the aid of magical books saved from his library, Prospero the Duke becomes Prospero the mighty enchanter. Then, one day, his enemies come within his power. He conjures up a tempest and wrecks their ship on the island's shore. Now they are at his mercy...
This is an accessible adaptation of Shakespeare's play for young audiences. As the story unfolds, Prospero's books open up to reveal a magical three-dimensional world peopled with spirits and monsters. Puppetry, acting and masks are integrated into the book motif and bring the enchanted island to life as the story - literally - unfolds. Music by Andrew
